744 S. Glendale Avenue
The newest of the three facilities, the Youth Recreation Center is home to numerous programs including the school-age child care and after school programs, Even Start Family Literacy Program, the Gas Company's Tomorrow's Leaders, athletic activities including Karate, volleyball, indoor soccer and basketball, folkloric dance, arts and crafts, and community meetings.

Several of the children we serve are living in local homeless shelters. Here, they receive academically driven child care, with credentialed staff who provide tutoring and homework assistance in addition to fun social and recreational activities. Children and their parents are also given computer literacy training, which is imperative in today's economic market.

Partnering with Glendale Community College and the Glendale Unified School District, single parents are offered intensive English language classes, parenting classes and interactive playtime with their children. Child care is provided for their children, enabling them to take part in the program. Local markets, such as Trader Joes, have adopted this class and supply these families with monthly groceries.

By working closely together with community leaders and organizations in Glendale, New Horizons strives to meet the needs of the community by fostering the healthy development of children and families.
