Since its founding in 1994, the center has grown tremendously, serving children ages 6 weeks to 17 years of age and their families at three remarkable facilities: The South Glendale Child Development Project, the Youth Recreation Center and the Mental Health Center. Services include an after school program for at-risk youth, sports, counseling, family literacy and ESL and parent education. Mindful of the diverse cultures we serve, the center offers a variety of multicultural family and community events.

With demand so great for infant and toddler child care, plans are well underway to construct a fourth day care and family resource center dedicated to serving more children from low-income families.

There is also a great need to encourage students' awareness of the impact of education on their future success. For the last six years, New Horizons has operated a Teen Tutoring- Mentoring Program. A new Teen College Project will offer an expanded range of services including individualized guidance and goal-setting from the sixth grade on, PSAT and SAT preparation, motivational speakers, college campus visits, financial aid education, application assistance, and a parent support group for those who cannot afford private tutoring and college-guidance services.

Thank you to all of our contributors who have generously supported our efforts to fill critical service gaps in the community.

A special thanks to our Board of Directors and our Advisory Board members for sharing their tireless energy and business experience to help provide high-quality services to residents of Glendale and neighboring Los Angeles communities.

Lastly, my sincerest gratitude to the staff and volunteers for their dedication to shaping children's lives. Their drive to teach children the skills they need to achieve academic and social success and their patience and understanding to get them through family hardships are truly inspirational. I am very fortunate to have such a great team.

We have accomplished so much in such a short time, but there is so much more that needs to be done. With your support the possibilities are endless. I invite you to visit us and be a part of this great effort.

With warmest wishes,
Dr. Maria A. Rochart
